Most things living inside you are harmful. Like a tapeworm. Or insecurity. But there is one thing that desperately wants to live inside of you that is the complete opposite of harmful. In fact, it’s the one thing that can guide you to living a fulfilling life in an empty world.
While believing in Jesus gives hope, Christianity is not based on hope or blind faith. It's based on evidence. As an eyewitness to many of Jesus' miracles, the apostle John reminds us that the supernatural feats of Jesus are not just random acts of kindness meant to help and inspire people. They are signs that give evidence for who Jesus is.
As children, many of us received a leather-covered book full of long words and difficult names we couldn’t pronounce. We were told everything in it was true and we should do our best to abide by its teachings.
Then we grew up.
What was oh-so-simple then is…well, it’s not simple. Perhaps that’s because we were taught Bible stories but not the story of the Bible.
Everything has a beginning. Every person, every idea, every journey starts somewhere. Whether it's one small step in a new direction or a major event, from that point forward nothing is ever the same.
It's not always comfortable. It's not always easy. But it's a start.
